HOW TO REPORT A CRIME

  1. Identify yourself - name, address and telephone number
  2. Type of crime
  3. "In progress" or "has occurred"
  4. Where? Be as specific as possible.
  5. Descriptions of suspect(s) - how many, whether armed etc. WRITE THIS DOWN
  6. Description of vehicle - tag number, dents, etc. WRITE THIS DOWN
  7. Direction of travel
  8. The longer you stay on the line, the better.
  9. After calling 9-1-1, call a neighbor so they can help watch the suspect and give police a more detailed description.
