Tax Sale Information

In accordance with Chapter 140 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri (RSMo), the Ste. Genevieve County Collector of Revenue holds an annual Tax Certificate Sale on the fourth Monday of August. The sale begins at 10:00 a.m. at the County Courthouse.
The documents listed below will assist you with any questions you may have. All bidders are required to pre-register prior to the day of the sale at the Ste. Genevieve County Collector's Office, starting the week before. The list of properties that may be offered in the Tax Sale is published in the local newspaper for three consecutive weeks prior to the Tax Sale. The list is also available at the Ste. Genevieve Collector Office and on the Collector website.
Bidding
Anyone wishing to bid at the sale must fill out a Tax Certificate Sale Registration Affidavit. The affidavit also serves as statement of non-delinquency and must be signed in the presence of a notary and submitted to the Collector's office the week prior to the sale. A notary is available in the Collector's Office, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday to notarize the affidavit free of charge. Pre-registered bidders will need to sign in at the Collector's Office to receive their bidder number on the day of the sale.
All bidders must be residents of Missouri. Any non-resident and/or business wishing to bid at the sale must execute a Designation of Bidder or Proxy and the resident accepting appointment must execute a Proxy Appointment Acceptance.
Minimum opening bid for parcels being offered the first, second, or third time will be the amount of delinquent taxes, interest and penalties and tax sale fees incurred on that parcel.

Calling for a Collectors Deed
After the statutory period of redemption has passed, the holder of a Tax Certificate may notify the Collector by affidavit that statutory requirements have been met. The Collector's Office will supply the affidavit form to be completed and notarized. The Collector's Office can notarize the affidavit.
